Uphold the Kingdom with your Words

Over the years, I have heard some astonishing words from the mouths of believers who are self-professed prayer warriors. They organize telephone prayer lines, run intercessory prayer, and even go to the hospital to pray for the sick and dying, yet in unguarded moments their true thoughts are revealed through the confessions of their mouths.

They speak words like, “Oh he has one foot in the grave.” Or “She has the Big C.” They even make declarations like, “He’s not coming back.” Or “It’s pointless now, all we can do is make her comfortable.” These words spoken from the mouth of God’s life representative creates an atmosphere, which fights against the manifestation of restorative health, by strongly opposing it!

“Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.”

James 3:10

When these believers were confronted, they chose to sidestep the issue rather than repent before the Lord. Rationales and justifications were given. They quoted the statistics of men, the evidence of the medical profession; a few even cited what they have seen over the years. What does any of that have to do with the reality of God? Does God invest in human statistics? Is his actions determined by medical evidence? Does God need to consult with past proofs in order to decide how he will act in the present or in the future?

These believers build with one hand while tearing down with the other; the result nothing changes the enemy wins for what has been sown is confusion and division through wavering words, which toss back and forth from faith to disbelief.

If the body of Christ desires to see changes, if we desire to witness the manifestation of God’s power in our lives and in the lives of others we need to examine the concoctions our mouths are brewing in spiritual realms. Our words are alive therefore; we should guard them well at every moment for we will have to give an account to the Lord.

“But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.”

Matthew 12:36

It does not take faith to predict death, for we are all dying, each day we grow closer to the grave. It takes faith to keep believing in God. Believing that he will intervene in the situation as we stare death, sickness, and disease in the face knowing that it is the lot of fallen man. Our words are a tool, which opposes and violently fights against the kingdom of the enemy.

He has established his kingdom in the bodies of men and we have the authority to demolish his stronghold. He has set his principality over hospitals and we have the power to enlighten the minds and hearts of doctors, nurses, hospital staff, and patients. Each time we speak, we lay a brick for or against the kingdom of God. We are charged with a serious responsibility to advance the kingdom of God on the earth as we demolish the enemy’s strongholds over the earth.

This is so true. And I think perhaps we’re all guilty of this at times. For sure, as Christian we need to speak prophesy of good and not bad.

Thank you, Mary. It is true we need to use our mouths to advance the kingdom of God, to declare what is true about him. Our opinions or experience have no place in the matter unless it upholds the pillars of the kingdom Of God. If not then they should be discarded and replaced with the reality of God as found in his Word.
