Moving Forward through Self-Recovery

Physical Opposition

(Part 3)

Physical opposition

“In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.” 2 Timothy 2:25-26

Today’s lesson will be focus on physical opposition. However, before we get started let us set the right atmosphere around us to the glory of God.

Praise him

1 Praise him, praise him, praise him, praise him!

Jesus, blessed Savior, he’s worthy to be praised.

From the rising of the sun

until the going down of the same,

he’s worthy, Jesus is worthy,

he’s worthy to be praised.

2 Glory! Glory! In all things give him glory.

Jesus, blessed Savior, he’s worthy to be praised.

For God is our rock,

hope of salvation;

a strong deliverer,

in him I will always trust.

3 Praise him, praise him, praise him, praise him!

Jesus, blessed Savior, he’s worthy to be praised.

From the rising of the sun

until the going down of the same,

he’s worthy, Jesus is worthy,

he’s worthy to be praised.

Praise him, praise him, praise him, praise him!

Jesus, blessed Savior, he’s worthy to be praised.

Physical Opposition

There are many examples of  physical opposition such as refusing to move forward, engaging in wrongful activities with our bodies, fighting, violence, illegal drugs, or addictions. When a person becomes enslaved by their appetite or starts to live for food this puts them at odds with the intent of God. This can be seen in the following scriptures . . .

“Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.” 1 Corinthians 6:13

“Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)” Philippians 3:19

Here we see that we are not to live for our bellies no matter how good the food is. We are not to engage in fornication because our bodies belong to Christ. We are not to be earthly minded for it will crown us with shame. Each of these paths leads to a clear destination  . . . destruction.

Whatever we do with our physical body is supposed to bring glory to God, if it will not or does not we are to refrain from doing it. This will ensure that we remain in proper alignment with God.

How have you been physically opposed to Christ, to the kingdom of God, to the call that has been placed on your life? Are you ready to realign yourself with the Lord? There is power in the name of Jesus. It breaks yokes and sets captives free! Call on him, he is sure to answer. He is faithful even when we are not.

“If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.” 2 Timothy 2:13

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus there is something about that name

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus

There’s just something about that name

Master, Savior, Jesus

Like the fragrance after the rain

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus

Let all heaven and earth proclaim

Kings and kingdoms shall all pass away

But there’s something about that name.

Prayer

Father we thank you that you have given us power over the enemy. Help us to walk in the fullness of Christ. Lord we want to be physically aligned with you. Ever advancing in the things of God. We come against retreating from the enemy or remaining stagnant. Lord we repent for our disobedience when you commanded that we go forward we lagged behind. Lord blot out our offence from before your face in the name of Jesus.
